NOTICE: NOT RELIABLE PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

Following the 1998 incident, questions surrounding Raccoon City Police Department procurement practices remained largely unanswered. Among the equipment recovered were several examples of protective gear reportedly purchased under Chief Brian Irons and later questioned for their quality and suitability for field use.

What was found prompted an investigation into Chief Irons acquisition history (mainly through tax funds with some help from the Umbrella Corporation's state and federal fund, with disturbing results. The gear found within the RPD was not just potentially unfit for duty, but intentionally hidden from members of the department. Possibly to increase risk of infection or harm to RPD personnel.

To this day, the RPD tactical vest is not certified protective equipment and provides no guaranteed ballistic or stab protection. However, it is a strong visual reminder of those we lost that September.
